The tragic death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf has shaken Frisco, Texas. The Frisco Memorial High School student was fatally stabbed on April 2, 2025, during a track and field event at Kuykendall Stadium. Described as a “bright, driven, and kind-hearted” teen who loved football and his faith, Austin’s sudden loss has sparked widespread grief.
According to Frisco Police, the incident began when Austin asked another student, Karmelo Anthony, to move from the team tent. Karmelo reportedly replied, “make me move,” before retrieving a knife and stabbing Austin in the chest. Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, tried to save him. Their father, Jeff Metcalf, said, “I was very concerned… and we prayed… but they weren’t able to save him. This is murder.”
Austin’s last post on X, just two days before his death, read: “Faith that god got me ❤️ and my work will pay off.” It has since become a haunting symbol of lost potential. Tributes poured in online, with one message saying, “He was taken from the world too soon.”
Karmelo Anthony has been charged with first-degree murder. Meanwhile, the Metcalf family — and their community — are left mourning a life cut short far too soon.
