‘Our broken hearts go out to his family.’

Graham Craker, the beloved bodyguard of Princes William and Harry, has died at 77. Affectionately called “Crackers,” he served the royal family for 35 years, including 15 as the princes’ protector.

He was by their side during one of their most painful moments—learning of Princess Diana’s death in 1997. Craker later recalled how Prince William quietly thanked him after hearing the news. At Diana’s funeral, he walked behind the hearse with the young princes. “Prince William gave me a reassuring nod,” Craker shared, showing the deep trust between them.

In his memoir *Spare*, Prince Harry wrote that he and William “adored their bodyguard,” always calling him “Crackers.” The bond was so strong that Craker was invited to William and Kate’s wedding years after retiring.

He was also honored by Queen Elizabeth II and continued helping others through charity work. The Southern Maltings creative centre in Ware, where he volunteered, called him “our very own James Bond.”

“It is with much sadness that we must share that our friend and colleague, Graham Craker, has sadly died,” the centre wrote in a heartfelt tribute, remembering his warm presence and long-time dedication.
