Eight pills that should not be consumed because they affect the kidneys

Over the years, “the use of pills to treat illnesses has increased, as have their negative effects on health.” While they help manage diseases, frequent use can seriously harm vital organs, especially the kidneys. These organs “are responsible for expelling toxins,” and their damage poses a major health risk.

Some common medications that strongly impact kidney health should be avoided when possible. “Although these medications are available in pharmacies, their use can cause pain and impair your body’s natural functioning.”

Among them are:

– **Lithium**, used for bipolar disorder.
– **Anticonvulsants**, like phenytoin and trimethadione.
– **Chemotherapy drugs**, such as cisplatin, carboplatin, and bevacizumab.
– **Propylthiouracil**, for thyroid issues.
– **Heartburn relief pills**, including omeprazole and lansoprazole.
– **Antivirals**, like acyclovir (herpes) and indinavir (HIV).
– **Captopril**, for high blood pressure.
– **Bone and joint medications**, including infliximab (arthritis) and hydroxychloroquine (malaria and lupus).

Protecting kidney health is crucial, so limiting the use of these medications when possible is highly recommended.
