Do you suffer from psoriasis? Discover what’s behind this condition and how to manage it

**Psoriasis and Your Diet: What to Avoid**

Psoriasis is a long-term skin condition where the immune system causes red, scaly patches. While there’s no single food that causes it, “some foods can make it worse for certain people.”

**1. Saturated Fats & Processed Foods**
Fried foods, sausages, and full-fat dairy “can raise inflammation levels,” which worsens symptoms. Choose healthier fats like those in fish, nuts, and seeds instead.

**2. Sugar, White Carbs & Salt**
White bread, soda, and pastries spike blood sugar, increasing inflammation. Salty snacks and canned meals “are often loaded with sodium and preservatives,” which may lead to swelling. Whole grains and fresh foods are better options.

**3. Alcohol**
Alcohol is a common trigger. It “can raise inflammation and interfere with some psoriasis medications.” Reducing or quitting alcohol may improve symptoms.

**4. Gluten & Spicy Foods**
Some feel better after cutting gluten, especially if they have sensitivities. Spicy foods like chili or hot sauce may also cause flare-ups in some people.

**5. Everyone Reacts Differently**
“Psoriasis affects people in different ways,” so triggers vary. Keeping a food diary can help identify personal culprits. Adding anti-inflammatory foods like fruits, veggies, and fish may support healthier skin.
