A tourist in the Philippines narrowly survived after mistaking a 15-foot crocodile for a statue and climbing into its enclosure for a selfie.
The 29-year-old man was visiting Kabug Island Mangrove and Wetlands Park when he ignored warnings and got too close to the crocodile, named Lalay.
As he posed for a photo, the crocodile attacked, biting his arm and thigh and dragging him into the water in a violent “death roll.” This spin, used by crocodiles to disorient prey, left the man seriously injured.
