Why Do You Bruise Easily?
Bruising (ecchymosis) happens when tiny blood vessels break under the skin, usually from minor bumps. While often harmless, frequent or unexplained bruising may suggest an underlying issue.
A common cause is vitamin deficiency. “Lack of vitamin C weakens blood vessels,” while vitamin K is “essential for clotting.” Low levels of vitamin D or B vitamins may also increase bruising risk.
Certain supplements can thin the blood, making bruises more likely. These include “omega-3s, ginkgo, ginseng, garlic, and vitamin E.”
