Dominique McShain, a vibrant 21-year-old from New Zealand, was living a normal life—studying psychology and newly married—when her world turned upside down.
Just before her 21st birthday, she was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer. Doctors now say she has only days or weeks left.
“You don’t expect this at 21,” Dominique said. “But it can happen. And it did.”
At first, she ignored her symptoms—dizziness, fatigue, and blood in her stool—thinking they were stress-related. But those were actually early signs of colorectal cancer. “I waited, and now I’m out of time,” she shared in one of her viral TikTok videos.
Despite her prognosis, Dominique has used social media to raise awareness, sharing her journey and encouraging others to pay attention to their bodies. “If something feels off, get it checked. Don’t wait because you’re scared or embarrassed.”
Her message has reached millions, inspiring people to book doctor appointments and discuss uncomfortable symptoms openly.
