Pain on the right side of the body is common and often not serious.
It can result from simple causes like trauma to the ribs, which “can cause very intense pain” but usually goes away without lasting effects. However, some causes require attention.
1. Appendicitis
One of the most well-known causes is appendicitis. Pain starts near the navel and moves to the lower right side. It often comes with “loss of appetite, abdominal swelling, or mild fever.” Immediate medical attention is needed if these symptoms appear.
2. Constipation
Though less serious, constipation can cause strong pain, bloating, and sometimes vomiting. A diet high in fiber and more water intake usually helps. “Fiber is closely linked to intestinal transit,” making diet changes essential.
3. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
IBS causes gas, bloating, and pain that may come and go. It’s managed by changes like “eating small meals, chewing slowly, and avoiding gas-producing foods.” Medical advice is recommended for lasting relief.
