Tragic Mistake: Aeroflot Flight 593 Crash
On March 23, 1994, Aeroflot Flight 593 crashed, killing all 75 onboard. Relief Captain Yaroslav Kudrinsky had invited his children, Yana, 13, and Eldar, 15, into the cockpit.
Though against regulations, the crew let them “fly” the plane. Eldar’s prolonged control inputs disengaged autopilot, causing the aircraft to bank dangerously.
As the plane lost stability, Kudrinsky shouted: “Eldar, get away! You see the danger, don’t you?” but recovery failed.
At 12:58 AM, the plane crashed into Russia’s Kuznetsk Alatau Mountains.
Initially denied, “cockpit voice recordings and flight data ultimately revealed the truth”—human error sealed the flight’s fate.
