Kathie Lee Gifford recently shared a stunning story on the Sage Steele Podcast, revealing a chilling moment from her past. While preparing to host the Miss America Pageant 31 years ago, she was unknowingly the target of a dangerous criminal. The FBI warned her husband, Frank Gifford, but advised him to act normal to avoid tipping off the suspect.
Frank, unwilling to take chances, sought help from Donald Trump. Kathie recalled Trump’s response: “Frank, don’t you worry about it. I’ve got your girls.” Trump then arranged for his private helicopter to transport Kathie and her newborn daughter safely home and provided a personal security team.
She only realized the gravity of the situation when she saw four of Trump’s security guards waiting for her. For days, armed guards were stationed outside her hotel room. “I had no idea what was happening,” she admitted.
The full impact hit her on the morning of the pageant when she read a newspaper headline detailing the threat against her. Despite the danger, she refused to cancel, declaring, “Hell no! Nobody’s going to make me afraid.”
