Tiger Woods played golf with former President Donald Trump at Trump International Golf Club in Florida ahead of his PGA Tour return at Torrey Pines. This marks Woods’ first official event since The Open. Trump, meanwhile, is set to attend the Super Bowl in New Orleans later the same day.
Woods, an eight-time winner at Torrey Pines, will compete in the Genesis Invitational, which was moved from Riviera due to the Palisades fire. He hasn’t completed a full 72-hole tournament since last April’s Masters.
His name has also surfaced in PGA Tour negotiations with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Last week, Trump met with PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and player director Adam Scott. While Woods’ attendance wasn’t confirmed, flight data suggested he traveled to D.C. before heading to Florida. “We are thankful that [Trump’s] leadership has brought us closer to a final deal,” the PGA Tour stated.
Woods also shared personal news, announcing the passing of his mother, Kultida Woods. “She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter—without her, none of my personal achievements would have been possible,” he said. Trump expressed condolences, praising Kultida’s influence on Woods.
