Congressman’s bill reveals possible new name for Greenland if President Trump acquired it

Donald Trump is renewing efforts to buy Greenland, even suggesting a name change to “Red, White, and Blueland.” Rep. Buddy Carter introduced a bill to support the renaming if the U.S. acquires the island. Carter declared, “America is back and will soon be bigger than ever.”

Trump claims the purchase is a “national security priority,” questioning Denmark’s “legal right” to Greenland, which it has controlled since 1814. He warned of “very high” tariffs on Denmark if it refuses and did not rule out military action, stating, “We need [Greenland and the Panama Canal] for economic security.”

Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede insists the island is “not for sale,” while Danish MEP Anders Vistisen criticized U.S. policy as “absurd” and warned that alienating allies makes the U.S. “weaker and more irrelevant.”

A Verian poll shows 85% of Greenlanders oppose joining the U.S., with only 6% in favor. Nearly half view Trump’s push as a “threat,” while 43% see it as an “opportunity.”

Despite opposition, Trump’s supporters frame the move as strengthening U.S. power. Carter praised Trump as the “Negotiator-in-Chief,” calling the deal “monumental.”
