Elon Musk responded to a proposal on X for a “$5,000 tax refund for citizens,” funded by savings from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). James Fishback, CEO of Azoria and DOGE advisor, suggested the payout, claiming it could come from “$55 billion saved through fraud detection, contract cancellations, and regulatory changes.”
Musk reacted, “Will check with the President,” later clarifying, “Ultimately up to Trump.”
DOGE has gained praise for reducing waste but faces concerns over “unrestricted access to sensitive federal data.”
Fishback highlighted the program’s success, saying it eliminated waste while delivering “tangible savings to taxpayers.”
Musk’s involvement sparked public interest, though the final decision remains uncertain and lies with Trump.
