The two silent killers in your feet to watch out for

Your feet can reveal early signs of serious health issues like heart disease and diabetes. Poor circulation, a warning sign of heart disease, may cause “cold feet, slow-healing wounds, pain while walking, cramping, or discoloration.” These symptoms indicate inadequate blood flow and should not be ignored.

Diabetes also affects foot health, leading to “tingling, burning, slow-healing wounds, and changes in skin, nail texture, or foot shape.” Infections like athlete’s foot or ulcers are common and can become severe if untreated.

Alarmingly, “80% of lower limb amputations in the U.S. are diabetes-related.” Regular foot checks can help detect early signs of diabetes, allowing for timely medical intervention.

Monitoring foot health is essential to prevent complications. If you notice persistent changes or wounds that don’t heal, seek medical attention promptly.
