At the SAG Awards, 87-year-old Jane Fonda delivered a powerful speech defending empathy and the true meaning of “woke.”
“Empathy is not weak or woke,” she declared. “And by the way, woke just means you give a damn about other people.”
Addressing Trump’s second term, she warned, “A whole lot of people are gonna be really hurt… We must not judge, but listen from our hearts.”
Fonda urged unity: “We must stay in community… help the vulnerable… and project an inspiring vision of the future.”
Fans praised her speech, with one tweeting, “Jane Fonda I LOVE U #SAGAwards.”
