Dyshidrotic Eczema: The Summer Skin Struggle
As summer approaches, many face the return of eczema flare-ups. Among them, dyshidrotic eczema, or pompholyx, is especially troublesome, causing “tiny, fluid-filled blisters on the palms, sides of the fingers, and soles of the feet.”
These blisters “often appear suddenly and can be incredibly itchy and painful.” Though the exact cause is unknown, it’s linked to an “overactive immune system” and triggered by allergens, irritants, or stress.
It primarily affects adults ages 20-40, with women more commonly affected. Those with atopic dermatitis, hay fever, or allergies are at higher risk.
