Hollywood Mourns Gene Hackman and Wife Betsy Arakawa
Hollywood is mourning the loss of legendary actor Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 63, who were found dead with their pet dog at their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home on February 26, 2025.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed their deaths, stating, “All I can say is that we’re in the middle of a preliminary death investigation, waiting on approval of a search warrant.” Authorities do not suspect foul play.
Hackman, a two-time Oscar winner, retired in 2004, saying, “I really don’t want to do it any longer.” He and Arakawa lived a private life in Santa Fe.
