Plane Crashes Into Vermont Mountain, Passengers Rescued
A small Piper PA-28 crashed near the 3,000-foot summit of Equinox Mountain, Vermont, at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, authorities confirmed.
Fire Chief Jamie Greene said, “The snow helped cushion the fall,” but rescuers faced “snow up to four feet deep.”
The pilot called 911 at 8:33 a.m., reporting non-life-threatening injuries for all three passengers. Rescuers, using helicopters, ATVs, and snowmobiles, reached them by 10:16 a.m.
One passenger was taken to Albany Medical Center.
Greene praised the team’s effort, saying, “It was very rugged terrain, but our guys pushed through.”
