Donald Trump has again suggested he could run for a third term, despite the 22nd Amendment prohibiting it. The law states: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” However, Trump has hinted at ways around this, saying, “There are methods which you could do it.”
Speaking to NBC News, Trump acknowledged supporters’ calls for him to run again but emphasized, “It’s very early in the administration. I’m focused on the current.” While he previously joked about the idea, he now appears more serious, confirming he has already raised funds for another campaign.
One possible method involves Vice President JD Vance running for office and later stepping down, allowing Trump to take over. When asked about this, Trump confirmed it was an option but refused to discuss other strategies.
Adding to this, US Representative Andy Ogles has proposed a bill to amend the Constitution, allowing a president to serve three terms instead of two. Ogles’ amendment would permit Trump to remain in office until 2032.
Although constitutional changes are difficult, Trump’s remarks and Ogles’ proposal suggest the idea of a third term remains a topic of discussion.
