Black Box Reveals Pilot’s Chilling Silence As Flight 9525 Plunged Into The Alps

Germanwings Flight 9525: Chilling Silence Before Tragedy

On March 24, 2015, Germanwings Flight 9525 crashed into the French Alps at 430 mph, killing all 150 people on board. The flight had departed from Barcelona, Spain, en route to Düsseldorf, Germany.

The crash was later revealed to be intentional. Co-pilot Andreas Lubitz waited until Captain Patrick Sondenheimer left the cockpit to use the lavatory, then locked the door and initiated the fatal descent. Lubitz changed the autopilot setting from 38,000 feet to just 100 feet.

According to the black box recording, Lubitz had told Sondenheimer, “You can go now,” shortly after takeoff.
