Nicole Lucas Hall is a mother of two, including her daughter Winry, who was born with a rare skin condition called congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN).
The condition causes a large birthmark, covering about a fourth of Winry’s face. Nicole’s mission is to show the world that “we’re perfect due to our imperfections.”
Nicole had a normal pregnancy and was shocked when nurses handed Winry to her after birth. “It was then quickly apparent to my husband and I that it was not a bruise. And like the name, I thought it looked a lot like a mole,” she said. Despite initial fear and worry, Nicole recalls, “I wasn’t sure what to ask so I just held her tight and loved on her.”
Doctors confirmed that Winry was healthy, and Nicole turned her focus to acceptance and awareness. “For a lot of people, this is the first time seeing a birthmark like hers and that’s part of why I enjoy sharing,” she explained.
