Pope Leo’s message sharply contrasted Trump’s usual media attacks. He emphasized the need for empathy: “We do not need loud, forceful communication, but rather communication that is capable of listening and of gathering the voices of the weak who have no voice.”

He also praised journalists who risk their lives: “The Church recognizes these witnesses… the courage of those who defend dignity, justice, and the right of people to be informed.”

Social media users quickly linked the remarks to Trump’s style. One commented: “Cc: @WhiteHouse @realDonaldTrump.”

When asked if he had a message for the U.S., the pope simply replied: “Many. God bless you all.”
