Not all breast changes mean cancer. Benign breast conditions can also cause lumps, pain, or discharge. Hormonal shifts, pregnancy, and menopause can make breasts feel different. Your breasts may also change with birth control or hormone therapy.

Stages of Breast Cancer
Stage 0: Noninvasive; confined to ducts

Stage I–II: Localized tumors

Stage III: Spread to nearby tissue or lymph nodes

Stage IV: Cancer spreads to bones, liver, lungs, or brain

When to See a Doctor
If you notice a lump or any unusual changes, don’t wait. “Report any changes in your breasts”, even if your last mammogram was clear. Early detection can save lives.
