Never store your cooked rice without knowing this

Have you ever saved leftover rice in the fridge, thinking it’s fine to eat later? Be careful—“storing rice without knowing this trick can be very dangerous.” 🍚

Cooked rice may contain Bacillus cereus, a bacteria that “survives the cooking process and multiplies rapidly if the rice cools slowly or is left out of the refrigerator.” If consumed, it can cause:

Nausea

Vomiting

Abdominal pain

Diarrhea

These symptoms may show up “just 1 hour after eating it,” and most people don’t suspect rice as the cause.

Even more concerning, “bacteria do not change the smell or taste of rice,” so you might not notice anything wrong.
