Following the tragedy in Dalton, Georgia, the families of Rebeca Akins and Cindel Rhoden have launched GoFundMe campaigns to cover funeral expenses and support the children left behind.
Rebeca’s sister, Emily Landen, wrote on GoFundMe: “My older sister Nicole was tragically taken away from us by the man she had loved for over half of her life.” She explained that Rebeca’s finances were entangled with Kevin’s, adding, “She is even listed in his life insurance policy, and we don’t know what that means for her funeral expenses.” The campaign has raised $1,640 toward its $18,000 goal.
Cindel’s friend, Ashley Barker, created another campaign, sharing: “Cindel was more than just a victim… she was kind, full of life, and a devoted mom doing her best for her girls.” Cindel had no life insurance. Her two daughters are now with extended family. The fundraiser aims to raise $20,000 and has reached $3,041 so far.
Both families are asking for public support through donations, prayers, and shares. “We believe in the power of community,” Ashley wrote. These losses have not only shattered lives but also sparked painful conversations about domestic violence and emotional manipulation.
