**Miraculous Survival: Tornado Throws Student 40 Yards**
Mya Grimes, 20, a student at Jackson State University, survived being thrown from her car during an EF-3 tornado that hit St. Louis on May 16, 2025.
While driving home, her vehicle was caught in the tornado’s path. “The car started spinning… I was praying and screaming ‘Jesus,’” she said. Moments later, the windshield shattered, and she was flung 40 yards down the road.
Her mother was on the phone during the terrifying moment. “It’s taking me,” Mya cried before the line went dead. Despite suffering burns and cuts, she managed to crawl to a light pole and flag down help.
Mya later shared her gratitude on Instagram: “I’m not lucky, I’m BLESSED. GOD KEPT ME.” She encouraged others to seek faith, writing, “You’re not too young, too far, too imperfect, or too late.”
What began as an ordinary drive became a life-changing experience. Mya’s story is one of survival, strength, and renewed faith.
