5 signs on the nose warn of diseases

Your nose can reveal important signs about your overall health. Changes like swelling, redness, or persistent irritation may be early warnings of underlying issues.

A red or bulbous nose might signal rosacea, or even be “linked to heart or liver issues.” Swelling or puffiness can point to infections or inflammatory diseases that need medical care.

If you notice sores or crusts that don’t heal—especially if they bleed easily—it could be a sign of skin cancer. A constantly runny or stuffy nose, not caused by a cold or allergies, may indicate chronic problems like nasal polyps.

Discoloration, such as a bluish tint, might signal “poor circulation or oxygen deficiency.”

“Never ignore noticeable changes to your nose”—they could be your body’s way of alerting you to deeper health problems. Early detection can improve treatment outcomes.
