Delta Offers Compensation to Passengers of Overturned Plane in Toronto – The Amount Sparks Discussions

Delta Air Lines’ $30,000 compensation offer to passengers from the Toronto crash has sparked mixed reactions. USA Today reported the offer, leading to online debates. Delta clarified the payment is unconditional and won’t affect legal rights.

Some passengers saw the offer as generous, grateful that all survived. Others joked about it, with one Reddit user asking, “How do I volunteer to survive a plane crash and get paid?” However, many criticized the amount as too low for the trauma endured. A Facebook user wrote, “Too little for that much trauma. PTSD, never flying again, imagine yourself in that moment.” Others suggested more, like $100,000 or lifetime free flights.

Critics questioned if the payment aimed to avoid lawsuits. One commenter noted $30,000 was far less than potential legal costs.

The crash involved a Bombardier CRJ900, operated by Endeavor Air, which flipped on its roof during landing at Toronto Pearson. All 76 passengers and 4 crew survived, though 18 were injured.

Survivors described their fear and acts of bravery during the crash. As investigations continue, debate over the compensation remains heated.
