After meeting my daughters, every man I dated would leave me

After several failed relationships, I realized my daughters’ intense questioning of my boyfriends might be the problem. They interrogated each man about his “intentions, finances, and past,” making them uncomfortable.

After my third breakup, a coworker pointed out that meeting my daughters felt like “a job interview.” It finally clicked—they were scaring off my dates. I appreciated their protectiveness but asked them to trust my choices. They admitted their fear of me getting hurt and agreed to ease up.

Months later, when I met someone new, they accepted him—though I knew they were still “keeping a watchful eye, just in case.”
