Recent rumors suggest Angelina Jolie and British rapper Akala are growing close, with reports claiming Akala introduced Jolie to his friends and family. Sources told the Daily Mail they bonded over a shared love of history and Akala’s knowledge on the subject.

However, a source close to Jolie refuted the claims, telling PEOPLE, “They all work together,” emphasizing Jolie is prioritizing her family and “is not dating at this time.” The source clarified Akala’s partner has been present at every event they attended together.

In May, In Touch claimed the two had been involved for over a year, and rumors resurfaced in August when they were seen leaving the same Venice hotel. PEOPLE reported, “She and Akala are not dating. She is friends with him and his partner, Chanelle.”

Akala, whose birth name is Kingsley James McLean Daley, is a musician and author of Natives: Race & Class in the Ruins of Empire. “They did several collabs over the years that focus on global issues like human rights,” a source said. “Angie speaks very highly of him.”

Jolie recently attended the London Film Festival premiere of Maria, where she stars as opera singer Maria Callas. The film will release in theaters on November 27 and on Netflix from December 11.
