Artificial intelligence has proven it’s capable of amazing things—like revealing what Jesus may have really looked like. Using the Shroud of Turin, an AI tool called Midjourney created a realistic image of Christ.

The Shroud of Turin, believed to be Jesus’ burial cloth from April 3, AD 33, shows a faint image of a man’s front and back. “One part of it in particular appears to show the imprint of a face, which has since been digitally processed to reveal a clearer image.”

The Daily Express asked Midjourney to generate an image based on this imprint. The result shows a man with shoulder-length hair, a beard, and facial injuries—”he basically just looks like exactly how most images of Jesus have ever been presented in history.”

While striking, some experts disagree with the AI’s accuracy. Dr. Meredith Warren told MailOnline, “Jesus would have had brown skin, brown eyes, like the local population… His hands and feet were probably calloused and rough.”

AI depictions like this continue to stir debate. Though visually powerful, they raise deeper questions about representation and historical truth.
