Powerful earthquake strikes San Diego – Locals recount scenes of utter chaos.

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Julian, California, late Monday night, shaking much of San Diego County and reaching as far as Los Angeles, 120 miles away.

Many residents reported feeling the quake, which the U.S. Geological Survey said had a depth of around 9 miles. “It felt like a strong jolt followed by light shaking,” one local resident said.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department confirmed there were no injuries or damage. Emergency services remained on alert as a precaution.

In a rare event, some people received an early alert just five seconds before the quake hit. “That five-second warning gave us just enough time to react,” one person said.

Officials reminded the public to stay prepared: “Earthquakes can strike without warning—always have a safety plan.”
