In some cases, visible veins are a sign of varicose veins. A warning sign is “veins… zigzag and many times larger than normal.” While early symptoms are mild, such as dull pain or tension, severe cases can lead to “pulmonary embolism, myocardial infarction, thrombosis, and stroke.”
Mild conditions may be managed with exercise, compression stockings, or diet changes. More severe cases require medical procedures like laser therapy, sclerotherapy, or surgeries such as Muller or Stripping. These can reduce symptoms but “this is a quick treatment method so it is very likely to recur.”
If you feel pain or notice growing veins, “it is best to go to the doctor when you notice pain in the area of the skin with varicose veins.”
