Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that 19 people were injured, with two in critical condition. He added, “We are praying for everyone on board… and are grateful to our first responders.” The bridge was not damaged and is now open to the public.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum shared her condolences: “We are deeply saddened… Our sympathy and support go out to their families.” She thanked Adams for assisting Mexican citizens and said the Navy is treating the wounded.

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
