Duo Djadja & Dinaz postponed a music video release in his honor, and radio host Fred Musa added: “My condolences to his loved ones.”
Werenoi was a rising star in French rap. He headlined the 2023 Francofolies de La Rochelle and won Album of the Year at the 2024 Flammes gala. Despite a recent arm injury, he remained active, sending fans a video message about wearing a cast.
He had major success with Carré (France’s best-selling album of 2023), Pyramide, and Diamond Noir, which reached #1 on April 18 with 53,821 equivalent sales. His hits included Scarface, Solitaire, and Laboratoire, and he had over 6.7 million monthly Spotify listeners.
The May 17 Lyon showcase was meant to debut his new album. The event teaser read, “French rap’s number one, Werenoi, is coming for an exclusive showcase.” Instead, fans filled his Instagram with comments like “Repose en paix” — rest in peace.
