President Trump has reportedly ordered the removal of security clearances for several Democrat officials, claiming Joe Biden “could not be trusted.” On Truth Social, Trump stated, “There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information,” adding that Biden had previously revoked his own intelligence access in 2021.
Trump referenced the Hur Report, which described Biden as having a “poor memory,” arguing that even in his “prime,” Biden was unfit for handling sensitive information. “I will always protect our National Security,” Trump asserted. Biden had earlier justified his decision by citing Trump’s “erratic behavior,” saying, “What value is giving him an intelligence briefing? What impact does he have at all, other than the fact he might slip and say something?”
According to The New York Post, Trump is also revoking clearances for officials such as Secretary of State Antony Blinken, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. “Bad guy. Take away his passes,” Trump reportedly said.
The move could restrict access to federal buildings and certain duties, but attorney Bob Costello described it as “more an insult and a slap in the face than a real deterrent.” Other affected officials include Jake Sullivan, Lisa Monaco, Andrew Weissman, Mark Zaid, and Norm Eisen.
