A Dog That Changed Everything
Greg and I had been together for years, but our home felt too silent. I suggested getting a dog.
At the shelter, I saw Maggie—a 12-year-old senior dog with health issues. The sign read “Hospice Adoption Only,” and my heart broke. “Greg, we should take this one,” I said.
Greg refused. “That dog’s halfway to the grave,” he scoffed, then gave an ultimatum: “If you take her in, I’m leaving.”
I thought he was joking, but the moment Maggie came home, he packed his bags. Weeks later, I was served divorce papers.
