Evelyn Walker, a 17-year-old from Hertfordshire, collapsed at school after feeling mild chest pain. “
I felt fine that morning,” she said, recalling her usual routine before things suddenly took a turn. “I began feeling sick” and then blacked out.
School staff jumped into action, performing CPR and using a defibrillator to restart her heart. Evelyn was later rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital and placed in a three-day coma. “I just remember waking up in hospital a couple of days later,” she said.
Her mother, Jennifer, said getting the emergency call was the “worst moment” of her life. “I just thought she was dead. It was absolutely awful.”
