The San Diego Police Department issued warnings on social media: “Evacs still in place for Salmon, Sample & Sculpin St. If you smell jet fuel or find debris, call 619-531-2000.” Evacuees were directed to Miller Elementary at 4343 Shields Street.
Residents described the chaos. One man told CBS, “As soon as I saw a police officer and he told me there’s some big incident going on, instantly my mind went to—I have to get my family out of here.” He added, “My car, her car, everything inside the house—that’s irrelevant. Just make sure everybody’s safe.”
So far, no injuries or fatalities have been confirmed. Officials continue to search homes and investigate the crash site.
The FAA noted, “This information is preliminary and subject to change.” Updates from the NTSB are expected in the coming days as investigators work to determine the cause.
