Two people died after a mid-air collision between a Cessna 172S and a Lancair 360 MK II at Marana Regional Airport, Arizona, around 8:30 a.m.
“One plane landed safely, while the other crashed and caught fire near the runway,” the NTSB confirmed. Both fatalities were from the crashed aircraft, while the other two passengers survived uninjured.
The airport, which has no air traffic control tower, is temporarily closed for investigation. Officials extended condolences and thanked emergency responders.
