Upside-Down Flag at Yosemite Sparks Controversy
Visitors to Yosemite National Park on February 22 saw an unusual sight—an American flag hanging upside down from El Capitan.
According to NBC News, Yosemite employees placed the flag this way as a statement. The U.S. Flag Code states that the flag should never be displayed upside down, “except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.”
With ongoing political turmoil, many see this as a response to Trump’s executive orders, crackdowns, and foreign policy missteps. The display has drawn both support and criticism across the country.
