Plus-sized rapper Dajua Blanding, known as Dank Demoss, is suing Lyft after a driver refused her a ride, saying she was “too big to fit in the back seat” and blaming “very tired tires” and lack of space.
Blanding filed a lawsuit, arguing weight discrimination is just as illegal as discrimination based on “race or religion.” Her lawyers say the experience caused her emotional distress and are seeking damages.
Online reactions were mixed. Some sided with the driver, citing safety concerns, while others questioned if this was true discrimination. Plus-sized riders mentioned it’s common to order a larger Lyft XL for better comfort.Lyft responded by saying they “condemn discrimination” and expect “all riders and drivers to be treated with respect.”
Legal proceedings are ongoing as the debate continues over rights, responsibilities, and respect for all riders.
