10 Signs You’re Living With Clogged Arteries

10 Warning Signs of Clogged Arteries

Clogged arteries can lead to serious health problems, including heart attacks and high blood pressure. Arteries are meant to carry oxygen-rich blood smoothly throughout the body. When plaque builds up on their walls, blood flow slows or stops completely. “Clogged arteries… can even block [blood] altogether, leading to a heart attack.”

1. Chest Pain & Shortness of Breath
Chest pain, or angina, is a major warning sign. It may spread to your arm, jaw, or back. “It results from reduced blood flow to the heart because of built-up plaque.” Shortness of breath, especially during rest, could mean your pulmonary arteries are blocked.

2. Nausea & Heart Palpitations
Persistent nausea may indicate something more serious. “If it is ongoing you should go talk to your doctor about it.” Heart palpitations—fluttering or pounding sensations—may also signal poor blood flow.
