Erica, a navy veteran and single mom, discovered she had a rare form of cancer after a strange experience while eating. “I went out for dinner… I took a couple of bites and was full instantly,” she said.
She underwent surgery, expecting a hysterectomy, but woke to devastating news. “The doctor told me they found quite a bit of cancer in my belly.” After further testing, she was diagnosed with appendiceal cancer.
Symptoms include bloating, nausea, increased waist size, and abdominal pain. Erica has undergone 12 rounds of chemotherapy and faced cancer three times. Despite everything, she focuses on positivity and living fully: “I’ve been saying ‘yes’ to a lot more opportunities.”
