Terri Irwin makes heartbreaking admission 19 years after Steve’s death

Nearly 19 years after his tragic death, Steve Irwin remains one of the most beloved conservationists in the world.

Known for his deep love of wildlife, Steve brought attention to many animal species and inspired millions. He passed that passion to his children, Bindi and Robert, who continue his legacy today.

Steve died in 2006 while filming at the Great Barrier Reef when a stingray pierced his chest. His friend and cameraman Justin Lyon recalled the heartbreaking moment: “He was having trouble breathing… the damage to his heart was massive.”

Lyon described the desperate effort to save him: “We’re saying to him things like, ‘Think of your kids, Steve…’ He just sort of calmly looked up at me and said, ‘I’m dying.’” That was the last thing Steve said.

His death left a global impact, but his work lives on through his family and countless fans who still admire his courage, heart, and dedication to wildlife.
