Female Rapper Sues Lyft After Driver Refused To Pick Her Up For This Reason

A Michigan rapper is suing Lyft after a driver allegedly refused to pick her up, claiming she was too heavy for his car.

Dajua Blanding, 36, known as Dank Demoss, filmed the encounter, showing her arguing with the driver, insisting, “I can fit in this car.” He canceled the ride, saying she wouldn’t be charged. Blanding later sued, saying she felt “humiliated and discriminated against.”

According to her, the driver arrived in a Mercedes-Benz but locked the doors and tried to leave. He allegedly told her she was too large for the backseat and suggested her weight could damage his tires. “What do I have to do with your tires?” she asked in the video.

Social media reactions were mixed, with some supporting the driver: “It’s against the law to overload a car.” Others criticized Lyft, with Blanding posting, “Lyft, what do you have to say…I feel like you all treat big people like s***.”

Her attorneys argue the refusal violates Michigan law protecting against weight discrimination. “Denying someone transportation based on their weight is not only illegal but dangerous,” said lawyer Zach Runyan. Lyft responded, stating it “condemns all forms of discrimination.” The lawsuit raises concerns about driver safety versus passenger rights.
