Military Jet Crashes Into San Diego Bay

A military jet vanished into San Diego Bay on Wednesday morning, leaving bystanders stunned and rescuers racing into action.

Chaos erupted when a U.S. Navy fighter jet, a two-seat EA-18G Growler, plunged into the bay at 10:15 a.m. after taking off from Naval Air Station North Island. Witnesses heard “unusual noises” before spotting the jet flying low.

Both pilots ejected into the water and were swiftly rescued. San Diego Fire-Rescue officials reported they were in “good condition.”

The Navy confirmed Wednesday evening that the pilots were “under medical observation for 24 hours as a precaution.”

The cause of the crash is still “under investigation.”
