Barack and Michelle Obama are embracing life as empty nesters, while their daughters, Malia and Sasha, have grown into independent, accomplished women—and best friends. *”Many say Malia looks just like Barack, and Sasha resembles Michelle.”*
During the pandemic, both sisters moved back home, which Barack said he and Michelle *“really loved.”* Since then, Malia and Sasha have gotten even closer. They now live together in Los Angeles, sharing a modest apartment furnished with *“finds from IKEA and yard sales.”*
Malia, born in 1998, is now 26 and making a name for herself in Hollywood. A Harvard graduate, she wrote and directed the short film *The Heart*, which won the New Generation prize at the 2024 Festival de Deauville. She also co-wrote an episode of Amazon’s *Swarm*.
Sasha, though less in the public eye, is thriving in her own way. Together, the sisters have grown into *“young women who respect and support one another deeply.”*
Barack and Michelle remain proud of their daughters, watching from afar as they navigate adulthood with strength and grace.
