2 food service employees killed in FSU shooting

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — Two food service workers were killed in a shooting on Florida State University’s campus Thursday.
“We are heartbroken to confirm that an Aramark employee was among those killed,” Aramark said. The victim, 45-year-old Tiru Chabba, was a father of two from Greenville, South Carolina.

The second victim, Robert Morales, was an FSU alum originally from Miami-Dade County. “You deserved better, Robert. Thank you for being in my life,” wrote a man identifying as his older brother on X.

Their deaths left the campus and community reeling. “We are absolutely shaken by the news and our deepest sympathies are with the family and our entire Aramark community,” the company added.

Robert’s father, Ricardo “Monkey” Morales, was a Cuban exile and CIA contract agent known for his wild past. His life is detailed in the upcoming book *Monkey Morales: The True Story of a Mythic Cuban Exile, Assassin, CIA Operative, FBI Informant, Smuggler, and Dad*. He was shot and killed in a bar fight in 1982 at age 43.

Meanwhile, of the six injured, two are expected to be discharged Friday. Three others are improving, and one remains in “fair condition,” according to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.
