The US has issued a strict ‘do not travel’ warning for parts of **Colombia** and **Burkina Faso** due to growing safety concerns, urging citizens to avoid these areas completely.
In **Colombia**, travelers are warned to stay away from regions like **Arauca, Cauca**, and the **Venezuela-Colombia border**. According to the State Department: *“Violent crime, like armed robbery and murder, is common… Terrorist groups are active in some areas.”* They added that even **US government employees are banned** from traveling to certain areas, and *“some US nationals have faced terrorism charges after entering without a visa.”*
Burkina Faso is considered even more dangerous, with the US advising: *“Do not travel to Burkina Faso for any reason due to terrorism, crime, and kidnapping.”* The State Department warns that *“terrorist organizations continue to plan and conduct attacks throughout the country,”* and *“the threat of kidnapping remains persistent.”*
The **US Embassy** notes that emergency help is extremely limited in both nations due to instability. *“The U.S. government is unable to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in most of the country,”* especially outside the capital of Burkina Faso.
Despite global travelers like **Drew Binsky** visiting dangerous places unharmed, the official advice is clear—**avoid these regions entirely**.
